18,490 ft – 8-12 days – Best time to climb: November-February (2013 Calendar)
Pico de Orizaba is the tallest peak in Mexico and the third highest mountain in North America. We ascend the Jamapa glacier which steepens to near 40 degree snow slopes. It is a training ground for climbs like Denali and the Seven Summits and it’s proximity makes it a relatively short commitment for a high altitude expedition. You must be in excellent physical condition to enjoy this climb.
It can be combined with climbs of Ixtaccihuatl (17,300 feet, Mexico’s 3rd tallest), Malinche and Nevado de Toluca.
